The Track’em Track and Trace Platform at Rio Tinto Iron Ore provides end-to-end tracking of goods from vendors to end users. It uses state-of-the-art scanning technology to offer reliable status, location, and delivery date visibility throughout all stages of the supply chain. Created in collaboration with Rio Tinto’s Perth-based team, the platform addresses the challenges in Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s warehousing systems. It integrates with SAP and Rio Tinto’s third-party logistics partners, linking all Pilbara operations, including 20 mine sites, sub-plants, admin centres, and hubs, into a single platform for better management and tracking of materials.

- Web and mobile applications and reporting for planners, maintainers, logistics partners, drivers, and warehouse officers.
- Enhanced Visibility and Planning: The integrated solution provides comprehensive visibility, allowing users to address shortfalls, make real-time updates, and enhance decision-making with FourKites and 3PL systems.
- Real-time tracking of materials from purchase order to final delivery, including inventory movement, logistics, expediting, consolidation, and staging.

Chris Brown
Manager Asset Management Supply Chain RioTinto Iron Ore
Chris has an Engineering background, and over 30 years experience with Rio Tinto in technical leadership roles spanning site maintenance, procurement, engineering and logistics.
Most recently Chris has led the Track and Trace project. Building and implementing a system to track the flow of parts through the inbound supply chain into the warehouse inventory or consolidation, and into the field to parts staging for maintenance.

Recognising a problem in the mining and construction industry, Kashif Saleem developed a unique materials tracking software called Track’em. Kashif set up his company in 2014, believing that businesses have a massive, unrealised potential to increase efficiencies and reduce wastage while positively impacting the planet. Track’em’s suite of software solutions enables businesses to track and manage assets, materials and productivity. Track’em uses a unique patented technology to provide tracking, analytics and business insights. Working with clients such as Rio Tinto, Fortescue, BHP, and Chevron, he has successfully expanded Track’em on over 60 projects in Australia and overseas. Kashif won the 2014 WA Business News 40 under 40 Awards; that year, he also won the 2014 Curtin Entrepreneur Award and was nominated for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In 2015, Track’em won the Government of WA’s ‘WA Innovator of the Year Award’.
